So I had Oreos with dark chocolate & tea today. Before today I never would have said this, but now it’s official with me. I don’t want to eat Oreos anymore! I never thought it possible, but turns out that I CAN hate Oreos. Maybe it’s only the vanilla cream I hate, & I might actually like another flavoured type, but I officially hate the original type. Ugh. This is classic example of too much of any good thing being definitely bad.

Still, this plight of mine led me to wonder how many flavours are out there? I’ve personally tried chocolate & mint, I’ve also seen the strawberry Oreos & blueberry ice cream Oreos. But there are some unusual flavours like green tea, lemon ice, peanut butter, banana & even orange ice cream. There were the limited edition stuff like, candy corn, gingerbread or watermelon.

Then there’s the totally out there flavours like Ice Cream Rainbow Sure, Bert! Oreo cookies which were a limited edition release made up of two golden Oreo cookies with a double stuf-thickness layer of tri-color raspberry and lime sherbert flavor creme filling and also the Oreo cookies with red creme, introduced in 2010, as a promotion for the movie How To Train Your Dragon. Seriously, all these limited edition Oreos are way cool than the original. I’m definitely going to keep a look out for the next issue of special cookies!

What is it with chocolate cakes having the ability to tempt us all into the dark side?? Today, I passed by a pastry shop with so many lovely cakes on display. Me, being the incredible glutton I am, couldn’t simply pass it by. So I had coffee with slices of Black forest gateau & double layer mousse cakes. I am so glad I take my coffee black without sugar…

Most of my friends think I’m crazy when I have a sweet tooth for all kinds of pastries & sweets, but take my coffee without sugar. Actually they find my habit of having black coffee without sugar to be utterly revolting, but I’ve found that adding milk, cream or sugar to coffee ruins that unique taste in coffee. Yes, it has a slight bitterness, but that’s just a quirk of coffee…

Still, I’ve found that having a sugary snack & a cup of coffee is really good when you spend the whole afternoon walking from shop to shop. It gives a boost of energy when otherwise you would feel really tired & annoyed in the middle of a shopping spree. Shopping should never be a chore, it should be something fun & is to be enjoyed with whoever is being dragged along…

Living in a tropical country, ice cream is a greatly appreciated dessert mostly because the climate is warm. One day, when I tried gelato for the first time, I was hooked for life. And I find myself currently craving Blueberry ice cream, or more specifically, Blueberry Gelato.
Obviously, it’s slightly difficult to find original gelato than to get ice cream. But I wanted to know why gelato was more appealing to my taste buds.
The difference between gelato & ice cream depends upon three factors: fat, air and temperature. Gelato is made with mostly milk while ice cream is made with cream and must have at least a 10% fat content. Then there’s the fact that Ice cream is churned fast to let in air and pump up the volume, lending it a light, fluffy quality while Gelato is slow-churned, which causes it to be denser, milkier and slower to melt. Also, Ice cream is served around 10 degrees F, any warmer and it will melt quickly. But because gelato has less fat and air, it’s served about 10-15 degrees warmer.
So it has less fat, more dense & lasts longer. No wonder my subconscious yearns for the yummy coldness that is gelato…

I’ve always thought that masquerade masks are pretty cool… I don’t really find the masquerade parties any different from a regular party & I don’t get all hyped up about Victorian ball gowns and so on either. But the mask itself has been pretty fascinating to me. So when a masquerade ball was held for new year, I dug a little background info. I was a little shocked about the beginning of Venetian masks though.

Of the four main types of masquerade masks: half, full, head and stick; half masquerade; which goes over the eyes and covers most of the forehead is in current fashion among masquerade balls. Full masks traditionally cover the entire face, including the mouth. So no matter how cool they are; are not practical because eating and drinking becomes difficult.

In the past, these were mostly used by Venetians because they allowed the lower class to mingle with the upper class during festivities. But in the modern day, masquerade masks appear at a variety of different events, including Venetian carnival celebrations & the celebration of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. If one is an adventurer or a world traveller, Board of Venice sponsors the city-wide Carnival party from February 13th through the 23rd.

So I’ve decided, when I visit Venice it will be done during February!
